Transforming Document Management: A Resilient Approach
Customer overview
Based in Johannesburg, Aseda Consulting Engineers is a prominent consulting and engineering firm with more than 17 years of experience. Aseda is a dedicated infrastructure delivery and advisory partner to providers, owners, investors and users, with expertise across many infrastructure types, sectors and geographies.
The challenge
A ransomware attack left Aseda without critical business documents that had been scattered across private cloud storage, file servers and network attached storage. Some documents were recovered from older backups, and Exelligent was engaged to transform how documents were stored and to strengthen defences against future ransomware attacks.
Our solution
Our engineers implemented Microsoft SharePoint Online, bringing documents from every source into one place. We categorised project, tender, customer and archived information and built a purpose-built SharePoint site for each. To strengthen security, we deployed our Veeam-powered Backup as a Service, with immutable backups stored in AWS.
User-centric mapping
We mapped each user's desktop to the SharePoint sites that match their job function, so working with documents feels just like the file shares they were used to. SharePoint and Veeam for Microsoft 365 add advanced versioning, protecting against accidental deletions and making it possible to recover documents discovered missing months later.
